Muslim Council of Elders: Islamic military alliance to fight terrorism a turning point in the history of the Islamic nation

CAIRO, 16th December, 2015 (WAM) -- The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Al Tayyeb, has welcomed the formation of an Islamic military alliance, comprising 34 countries, to fight against terrorism, adding that the establishment of the alliance is a real turning point in the history of the Islamic nation, which has suffered a lot from this malignant epidemic.

In a statement today, the council said that this historic alliance between the Islamic countries would work to eliminate terrorism and eradicate it from its roots and lay the foundations of peace not only in Muslim societies, but in the whole world.

The council expressed its full support for the efforts of this alliance in the eradication of terrorism, calling on all Islamic countries to join the alliance and unite the nation's efforts during this landmark stage of human history in order to prevail peace among all people.
