ABU DHABI, 31st May, 2016 (WAM) – Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, today received at his palace, the visiting South African Mineral Resources Minister and Free State, MP Mosebenzi Zwane and his accompanying delegation.

Sheikh Nahyan and Zwane exchanged views on the strong friendly relations between the two countries established by the founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and sustained by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He referred to the role played by the late African leader Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa, in developing South Africa. He also indicated the importance of developing ties in various domains, emphasising the significant role played by culture to increase communication between the two peoples.

Zwane briefed Sheikh Nahyan on co-operation and ways to promote it between the two sides. He also pointed out that there are plenty of opportunities for Emirati investors in various fields in South Africa.

Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro, South African Ambassador to the UAE, a number of officials and key figures attended the meeting.
