ABU DHABI,--Abu Dhabi Police today said the number of serious road accidents during the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday this year fell to 51, from 55 in the same period last year.
Director of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, said the number of serious road injuries and deaths during the last ten days of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr in 2015 stood at 12 and 8, respectively, compared to 8 and 6.
Al Dhaheri noted that exceeding speed limits and drivers' lack of attention remain the number one cause of serious road accidents.
He warned that Abu Dhabi Police will not be lenient with those who violate traffic rules.
