Obama: Fight against Daesh is not considered a Third World War

WASHINGTON, 13th January, 2016 (WAM) -- US President Barack Obama has stressed the importance of uprooting, chasing and destroying Daesh, highlighting that the protection of the American people and the eradication of terrorist networks are in the forefront of his country's priorities.

Obama also said in the annual State of the Union speech today that the war waged by the international coalition against Daesh cannot be considered a third world war, explaining that terrorism does not pose a threat to the US's existence.

In his speech, Obama said that the US economy is strong and it remains the most powerful nation in the world. He also criticised the anti-Islamic remarks made by some Republican presidential candidates, branding them 'a violation of American values'.
