ABU DHABI, The Office of Government Communication at the General Secretariat of the Executive Council in Abu Dhabi has organised a mobile exhibition that showcased, in various locations in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, photos submitted by participants in the Abu Dhabi Through Your Eyes photography competition.

The exhibition started at Manarat Al Saadiyat and continued to various locations, including the Abu Dhabi International Airport where travelers were introduced to the growth being witnessed in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as well Al Ain city, the Jumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai and the preparation location for the 2017 World Skills competition in Abu Dhabi city.

The mobile exhibition celebrates the 50 year anniversary of establishing Abu Dhabi's government apparatus, and seeks to instil the Emirate's identity through photographs taken by competition participants from over 150 nationalities living in the country.

Hamid Al Mansouri, Director of the Office of Government Communication, said that "the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has unique characteristics, especially in terms of its various natural environments and its fascinating urban development, not to mention its history and local culture. Visitors of the exhibition have a unique chance to learn about these aspects through the works of very talented photographers."

"The Abu Dhabi Through Your Eyes competition is one of the tools used by the Office of Government Communication to promote the emirate's identity and values. The latest version of the competition set specific criteria that helped display works that have highlighted the emirate's varied geography, its mixture of heritage and modernity, its urban development, and its lifestyle," he added.

More than 2,000 applications were received for the competition, including 182 applications sent by students. Photographers of all levels submitted their works and winners of the two main categories, as well as students, were honoured during a celebration held last September.

The competition helps support amateur photographers by dedicating a category to students, therefore highlighting their talents and allowing them the chance to compete with professionals to improve their capacities.
