JEDDAH, 3rd January, 2016 (WAM) — The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Iyad bin Amin Madani, has expressed his appreciation for the transitional authorities of the Central African Republic, CAR, following its regulation of presidential and parliamentary elections on December 30th.

In a statement, Madani expressed his congratulations for the Interim President, Catherine Samba-Panza, and Prime Minister, Mohammed Kamon, and to all members of the government, who have worked assiduously for the regulation of these elections in a peaceful atmosphere in CAR.

He praised the voters’ efforts in this important day that will put an end to the transitional period in the country, calling on all citizens of the Central African Republic to work towards the establishment of national reconciliation, so the country devote itself to the economic and social development.

The Secretary-General re-affirmed the permanent support of OIC to the Central African Republic to achieve stability and economic and social development, as well as national reconciliation.

It is worth to mentioned that the OIC has sent a mission of experts to observe the elections in the Central African Republic.
