JEDDAH -- The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, yesterday held a meeting with Kairat Abdrakhmanov, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the Saudi News Agency, the Secretary-General and the Kazakh Minister discussed a wide range of issues concerning the OIC and Kazakhstan. The two sides also exchanged views on the preparations for the forthcoming OIC Summit on Science and Technology, to be hosted in Astana, Kazakhstan, in September 2017. The summit will highlight the importance of science and technology for socio-economic development of the OIC member states, and lay down the OIC agenda for the next ten years by proposing new programmes.

They also discussed work progress at the Islamic Organisation for Food Security, which is expected to provide expertise and technical knowledge on various aspects related to sustainable agriculture, rural development, and food security.
