JEDDAH, 23rd August, 2016 (WAM) — The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, has strongly condemned the barbaric suicide attack at a wedding ceremony late on 20th August in Turkey’s province of Gaziantep that killed more than 50 people and injured scores of others.

Iyad Ameen Madani, Secretary-General of the OIC, denounced the attack, describing it as a cowardly criminal act that runs contrary to the spirit and teachings of Islam. He also reiterated the principled position of the OIC against all forms and manifestations of terrorism and pledged the organisation’s solidarity with Turkey in its overall endeavours to combat terrorism.

Mr. Madani offered his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the Government and people of Turkey on the tragic loss of precious lives and wished for an early recovery for those injured.
