MUSCAT, 6th January, 2016 (WAM) — The Sultanate of Oman, today expressed its “deep concern” about the attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Tehran, and its Consulate-General in Mashhad in the Islamic Republic of Iran, which resulted in causing serious damage.

Stressing that it is a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations which is based on respect for sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, the host country must protect the mission from intrusion or damage.

According to Oman News Agency, ONA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman said that this is an unacceptable act, at the same time stressing the importance of creating new rules which prohibit any form of intervention in the internal affairs of other countries in order to achieve stability and peace.
