VIENNA, 2nd June, 2016 (WAM)–OPEC’s new secretary-general, Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo, from Nigeria, commenced his term in office on Tuesday, replacing Libyan Abdalla El-Badri who has held the position since 2007.

Barkindo was elected for three-year term in office on 2nd June 2016 during the 169th session of the Conference of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), held in Vienna.
