ISLAMABAD, 26th February 2016 (WAM) — Advisor to the Pakistani prime minister on foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, reaffirmed the country’s continued support and efforts to restore long- term peace and stability to Afghanistan through an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led process, according to a press release from the Foreign Affairs Ministry Aziz said peace in Afghanistan was in the mutual interest of both the countries.

He was speaking in a meeting at the Foreign Office with an Afghan parliamentary delegation led by Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, Speaker of Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of Afghanistan’s bicameral National Assembly of Afghanistan.

Mr. Ibrahimi said that destinies of Pakistan and Afghanistan were intertwined and the two countries should continue their concerted efforts for increasing collaboration including through frequent parliamentary exchanges.

The Afghan parliamentary delegation is visiting Pakistan from 23th-27th February at the invitation of Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan.
