ISLAMABAD, 15th March 2016 (WAM) — Pakistan is extending invitations to heads of states and heads of government of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to attend the 19th SAARC Summit, which will be hosted in the capital Islamabad this year.

Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, will meet foreign ministers of SAARC members on the sidelines of the SAARC Council of Ministers’ meeting on 17th March 2016 in Nepal to extend Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s formal invitation to their respective heads of states and heads of government for the summit, according to the spokesperson of Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Pakistan attaches high importance to the SAARC which comprises eight members and is committed to its process. It supports the broad objectives of the charter which envisages promoting the welfare of the peoples of South Asian countries.
