ISLAMABAD, 7th March 2016 (WAM) — President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain today said peace in Middle East would remain elusive without resolving the Palestinian issue and called upon the international community to play its role in finding a just solution based on UN resolutions on the long-standing issue.

He called for two states living side-by-side in peace and security as the goal that should be pursued.

Hussain made his remarks in his address before the fifth Extraordinary Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Shareef which concluded today in the Indonesian capital on Monday, according to media reports.

The Jakarta Declaration issued at the end of the two-day OIC Summit, held under the theme ‘United for Just Solution’, reiterated their support for an independent Palestinian state.

In the declaration, the members of the OIC expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people.

They also strongly condemned the Israeli violence against the Palestinian people.
