ABU DHABI, 18th September 2016 (WAM) – Shaykh Abdallah Bin Bayyah, President of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, has received an invitation from Boris Johnson, British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, to attend a high level meeting to mark the launch of the campaign for justice for the victims of Isis, also known as Daesh.

The event, to be hosted by the British government at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York today, will be joined by the foreign ministers of the countries that are affected by Daesh terrorism, as well as government, NGOs and other organisations, in an effort to seek justice for all Daesh’s victims, bringing the international community together in defiance of Daesh’s efforts to stoke division and hate.

The event is expected to see an initiative by the UK, Belgium and Iraq to propose ways for the UN to support the vital task of gathering evidence about Daesh abhorrent crimes.

Joining this global campaign against Daesh, the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies will also seek to promote its approach to bring about peace upon peace – to extinguish the flames of violence, to rescue those who are engulfed in conflict, and to deescalate tensions throughout the world.
