Rangpur's acting SP Abdullah al Farooq confirmed the development on Sunday although the charge sheet against was submitted a week ago, on July 3.
Investigating Officer and Kaunia police OC Abdul Qader Jilani told journalists that the chargesheet was handed in to the court of Rangpur senior magistrate.
The accused are Rangpur Area Commander of JMB Masud Rana 33, member Isfaq Ali, 34, Liton Mia, 32, Abu Sayed, 28, Saddam Hussain, 32, Ahsan Ullah Ansari, 31, Najrul Islam, 32, and Shakhawat Hussain, 30.
Of these, the first three are residents of Tangailparha in Pirgachha Upazila. Abu Sayed hails from Bogra's Gabtali, Saddam Hussain and Ahsan Ullah Ansari are from Rajarhat, Kurhigram, Najrul is a resident of Debiganj in Panchagarh, and Shakhawat is a Gaibandha resident.
Saddam, Ahsan, Najrul and Shakhawat are absconding, said OC Qader.
The investigating officer said that on the morning of Oct 3 last year, Masud Rana fired three shots at farmer Hoshi from a motorcycle at Alutari village under Kaunia Upazila. The motorbike carrying three then sped away.
The 66-year old Japanese citizen died on the spot.
Though international terror outfit Islamic State was quick to claim responsibility, the government had refuted it.
Following the incident, police had arrested five people including Hoshi's business partner Humayun Kabir Hira.
Multiple interrogations of these five people has revealed JMB's involvement. These five have are now lodged in Rangpur Central Jail.
