ABU DHABI, The President of the National Assembly of Benin, Adrien Houngbedji, has commended the role played by the UAE leadership in sustaining peace and stability in different parts of the world.

He made the statements during his meeting with Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, who underlined the significance of parliamentary relations with the Republic of Benin and the need to further develop joint action over the coming period at the parliamentary level.

The two sides expressed their countries' determination to develop bilateral ties for the higher good of both people.

During the meeting, Al Qubaisi highlighted the FNC's effective contribution to the transformational development drive adopted by the UAE across various fields. She also reviewed some of the key recommendations made by the members of the Inter-Parliamentary Union's, IPU, High-level Consultative Group to Counter Terrorism and Extremism at the end of its second meeting in Abu Dhabi on 2nd and 3rd May.

Houngbedji expressed his willingness to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the FNC to benefit from its wide expertise in multiple domains, especially with regards to women's empowerment.

He congratulated Al Qubaisi on the distinguished parliamentary services provided by the FNC, commending the UAE leadership's support for just causes and their significant role in sustaining international peace and stability.
