DUBAI, -- This year's Arab Media Forum (AMF) will be held under the theme of 'Civil Dialogue', which highlights the role of media in facilitating cross-cultural discussions, which are crucial for the region at the current time.
Now in its 16th edition, the Arab Media Forum (AMF), running under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on May 1st and 2nd 2017, will host over 3000 prominent media leaders, scholars, writers and media experts, who will discuss the role of media in promoting civil dialogue through highlighting the important elements of peaceful coexistence, tolerance, mutual respect as well as condemning any display of racism, hatred and prejudice.
This edition will also unveil the "Arab image in the West" report, a survey on the American opinion of Arabs, conducted in partnership between Dubai Press Club, AMF organiser, Arab News daily and YouGov.
The two-day-forum agenda will include plenty of discussions and an array of analytical topics that top the interests of the audience.
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit will address the opening session about how civil dialogue and media can align together to overcome the negative consequences of the current Arab situation.
UAE Minister of State for Tolerance Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi will be presenting the keynote address at the opening plenary session on the second day. "Constructive Dialogue" will be the title of a session presented by Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Chairperson of Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority Noura Al Kaabi. Moreover, Minister of State for Youth Affairs Shamma Al Mazrui will be launching a media initiative for Arab youth.
International media figures will be engaging in the annual event, deemed the most prestigious media event in the Arab World, to share in their thoughts and experience.
This year, the AMF will feature a series of discussion sessions related to the vicissitudes in regional affairs and the importance of enhancing civil dialogue between the Arab nations, especially in regards to political and media relations in order to come up with the best possible solutions to current challenges and unlock potentials for cooperation.
