ANKARA, MOSCOW, 19th December, 2016 (WAM)– A gunman killed the Russian ambassador to Turkey during an art gallery opening in Ankara today, according to spokeswoman of Russian Foreign Ministry.

Andrey Karlov was speaking at an Embassy-sponsored photo exhibition when he was shot multiple times.

Four other people were wounded and were taken to the hospital, Turkish media reported.

Shooting continued after the attack targeting the ambassador.

“The assailant who shot Russia’s ambassador has been neutralised by special forces at the scene,” Turkey’s Anadolu Agency said.
