SHARJAH, - H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, witnessed the honouring ceremony of winners of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage, at the headquarters of the Sharjah Heritage Institute.
The ceremony, held in conjunction with World Heritage Day, started with a speech by Dr. Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Award, in which he said that the Sharjah International Cultural Heritage Award, launched by the Institute about a year ago, and it comes according to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and in implementation of His Highness's directives to preserve the Arab Cultural Heritage.
He added that the Award include three fields ,they are the Preservation of Cultural Heritage Elements, the Narrators and Campaign Heritage (human treasures live),and Research and Studies in Cultural Heritage.
During the ceremony, film presented about Cultural Heritage and the efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah to preserve and preserve the Heritage .
In the ceremony ,His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah witnessed a number of accompanying artistic and folkloric performances, including the offers by the Republic of Malta as a guest of honour for Sharjah Heritage Days.
