ABU DHABI, - President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, a law on co-operative societies carrying out fishing activities in Abu Dhabi.

The law aims at regulating the work of co-operative societies active in the fishing business, in a way that would guarantee the protection of fish resources in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, and at the same time benefit the societies.

The law stipulates that the Chairman of the Department of Economic Development shall, after obtaining the Executive Council's approval, issue the regulations and resolutions pertaining to managing the fishing co-operative societies, including rules for membership, boards, monitoring and supervision, book-keeping, penalties, mergers and dissolutions.
