ABU DHABI, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, called on ministries, public and private institutions and the entire community to celebrate "Emirati Children's Day" on 15th March.
In her statement on this occasion, Sheikha Fatima said, "The country celebrated this day for the first time last year, and it is a precious day for us all because it celebrates children, the present generation and the leaders of the future. Therefore, we are all keen to provide them with a healthy and safe environment that will improve their skills and capacities to benefit the UAE community."
She added that the invitation includes the public and private sectors, major companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, municipalities, universities, schools, nurseries, the general public and the media while urging them to organise activities, initiatives, programmes, competitions and awareness campaigns related to children's rights.
Sheikha Fatima pointed out that everybody should participate in Emirati Children's Day through a range of activities that will include the children of UAE citizens and residents and children of determination. These activities should cover all areas, to reflect the role of participating authorities in reinforcing children's rights and achieving the UAE Vision 2021 and the Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2023, with the aim of empowering children and enabling them to understand their rights and responsibilities within the family, the community and the country while making the community understand children's rights and promoting pluralism and tolerance, she further added.
At the end of her statement, Sheikha Fatima called on the country's institutions to participate in the hashtag, "#EmiratiChildrensDay2019," as well as to protect children and create a safe environment while supporting mothers, fathers, families, legitimate guardians and care providers.
