ABU DHABI, - H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, received Rula Ghani, wife of the President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, in Abu Dhabi today.
The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, wife of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Najla bint Mohammed Al Awar, Minister of Community Development, and Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the GWU.
During the meeting, Sheikha Fatima highlighted the achievements made by the women of the UAE and their positive contributions to public life, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
She added that thanks to Sheikh Khalifa's initiatives, UAE women now hold high positions in the cabinet, Federal National Council, as well as judicial and diplomatic corps.
Sheikha Fatima renewed UAE's standing by the people of Afghanistan and referred to the humanitarian aid given to Afghanistan.
Rula Ghani also applauded the UAE for its unlimited support to Afghanistan. She said that the people of Afghanistan are grateful to the UAE and its wise leadership.
She also praised the achievements made by UAE women and the progress made by the UAE in all fields.
