ABU DHABI, 25th April, 2016 (WAM) – H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, yesterday received the UAE-Japan Friendship Women Committee, at Rawdat Al Reef.

The meeting was part of the committee’s third meeting which will be held from 24th to 27th April, at the Sheikh Khalifa Energy Complex. H.H Sheikha Al Yazia bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, wife of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, attended the meeting.

Dr. Maytha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and Adviser to the Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and founding member of the committee, Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women’s Union and a number of key women figures were also present.

The committee was established in the framework of the keenness of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the Japan Cooperation Centre, Petroleum (JCCP) to support the role of women working in both companies. They agreed to establish a joint committee titled “UAE-Japan Friendship Committee for Women Career Development.” At the end of the visit, members of the committee extended thanks and appreciation to Sheikha Fatima for accepting to be a chair of the committee. They also presented a souvenir to Sheikha Fatima in recognition to her support and follow up of the committee’s work which enhances the position of the Emirati women as well as boosts the two countries’ ties.
