DUBAI -- Dr. Hanif Hassan Al Qassim, Chairman of the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue, praised the considerable efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, that represent an exceptional example for Emirati and Arab women, by pointing out her contributions in strengthening the prestigious stature of women on all levels.

He valued the prominent position of the Emirati woman, and her exceptional pioneering on local and international levels, through her vital social and economic roles and her effective contribution to decision-making.

Dr. Al Qassim's statement came as part of the country's International Women's Day celebrations, where he praised the desire of the "Mother of the UAE" to empower the Emirati woman, and the constant support to develop her skills and capabilities to keep up with the current times, while maintaining the principles of her national identity, which comes from the nation's Islamic and Arab heritage.

He stated that the foundations for this path were laid by the Founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and continues to be sponsored by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Al Qassim said the initiatives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak have provided special cultural achievements in international humanitarian work and contributed to launching the Emirati woman in education and professionally. He added that official statistics highlight a decrease in the percentage of female illiteracy cases, while the number of female university graduates has multiplied.

The Emirati woman has also worked in different jobs and achieved noticeable successes, whether in ministerial, diplomatic and parliamentary positions, which assures that the country's vision can include the support and patronage of women's talents and innovations, to scale greater heights in all fields at all levels, he said.
