ABU DHABI, -- The establishment of the UAE Soft Power Council, announced earlier today, is evidence of the steps taken to underline the country's honourable reputation and maintain its competitive position among other world nations, said Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, who was appointed as a member of the new council along with ministers and senior officials.

This will add to the sustained history of achievements and successes within the UAE over the last few decades, Al Mubarak commented, on the launch of the new body announced by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Al Mubarak also highlighted that the UAE's profound cultural, economic and social assets that, when combined, represent an inspiring legacy where the government and the community can be seen as working together in an amicable environment, showcasing the culture, identity and valuable progression that will become a success story for future generations.

"The UAE has established itself globally as a prominent diplomatic state and this council has introduced a new approach, one that addresses people and minds and one that builds a promising civic image, supported by the country's ongoing futuristic initiatives."

He asserted that various national entities in all fields will contribute to the unprecedented efforts of the UAE Soft Power Council.

"Our country has witnessed an active movement over past decades in the fields of culture, arts and tourism, becoming a leading destination of distinction that attracts visitors and tourists from all walks of life regardless of their background or culture, further strengthening the UAE's position," he further added.

Al Mubarak further expressed his gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid for appointing him as a member of the new council, and articulated that this national duty carries great responsibility for all council members, and is a strategic mission towards the welfare of the UAE.

The UAE Soft Power Council will define a comprehensive strategy to reinforce the country's position and consolidate its values of respect and appreciation with governments and citizens across the world. It will report directly to the UAE Cabinet and will introduce an integrated national strategy that consolidates the roles of both public and private sectors, in achieving soft power and conveying the nation's history in a new way.
