SHARJAH -- H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council and Chairman of the High Organising Committee of Sir Bu Nair Festival, and Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority, EPAA, and Vice Chairperson of the High Organising Committee of the Festival, have honoured the strategic partners, patrons and competition winners of the 18th annual Sir Bu Nair Festival.

The event was also attended by Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Airport Authority, SAA; Brigadier Saif Al-Zari Al Shamsi, Commander in Chief of Sharjah Police; Dr. Bjorn Kjerfve, American University of Sharjah Chancellor, and heads of government bodies participating in the festival.

Organised by the EPAA under the theme, "The Sea is Our Life", the 18th annual Sir Bu Nair Festival kicked off at the nature reserve on Thursday with several activities that attracted crowds of visitors.

"The festival, which is annually organised by the Sharjah Environment and Nature Reserves Authority, has a rich and unique asset and achieved successive successes over the past 18 years. It still has much more up its sleeve in the interest of the public audience, visitors, environment enthusiasts and researchers, reflecting the support and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah," Sheikh Sultan said.

He noted that the festival contributes to the definition of this beautiful island, which is rich in its components and environmental elements. "At the festival, we unite ourselves with the attractive nature of the island and its deep-rooted history in which we take pride, and we feel intimate with those stories and tales that are narrated by its beaches and water," Sheikh Sultan added.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi stated that Sir Bu Nair has achieved success after success, adding that such achievements would not have been possible without the great support and constant follow-up and patronage of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

She highlighted the efforts and support of strategic partners who have contributed tremendously to the success of the event.

Al Suwaidi added that the festival aims to promote Sharjah's efforts to preserve and protect environmental and cultural heritage for future generations, as well as to highlight the tourism and environmental importance of the Sir Bu Nair Nature Reserve and raise awareness among the island's visitors about the importance of adhering to conservation regulations, encouraging them to contribute to biodiversity conservation activities.
