Tunisia calls for provision of adequate protection for diplomatic and consular missions

TUNISIA, 4th January, 2016 (WAM) -- In a statement issued yesterday, the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised the need to provide protection for diplomatic and consular missions and preserve their inviolability, following the attacks on the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Tehran and its Consulate in Mashhad.

In its statement, the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that such actions represent a flagrant violation of the Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic and Consular Relations and relevant international treaties and norms. Tunisia also called on all parties to avoid any actions that might lead to further straining the situation in the region, in order to preserve security and stability.
