ISLAMABAD, 12th May, 2016 (WAM) — At least two policemen were killed and a number of other people were injured in an explosion near the Balochistan University in the provincial capital, Quetta, on Tuesday.

Talking to the media, Balochistan Home Minister, Sarfaraz Bugti, said that the blast targeted a checkpoint near the university and was caused by an IED, improvised explosive device, planted by the side of the road. Despite statements in the Pakistani press that the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, TTP, organisation were responsible for the attack, this has not yet been confirmed by the authorities, who are continuing their investigation into the incident.
