NEW DELHI, 21st July, 2016 (WAM) – Dr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Bana, the UAE Ambassador to India, has met with the Chief Minister of the Indian State of Gujarat, Anandiben Mafatbhai Patel.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them. The UAE envoy and the Indian official also tackled issues of mutual interest.

On behalf of the Indian government, Patel expressed her interest in strengthening the relations between the two countries. She added that Gujarat had earned a reputation of being the engine of growth in India, thanks to its development and business-friendly environment.

The chief minister reiterated that her state has established itself as one of the world’s favourable business hubs. She added that during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017, the state will use the platform to promote itself to foreign investors seeking to invest in India.

She stressed her readiness to do what it takes to boost the strategic partnerships between the two countries.

Ambassador Al Bana referred to the deep-rooted economic links between the UAE and India, and noted that the UAE is one of the largest trade partners and investors to India. He added that the volume of the UAE investments in India accounts for 81.2 per cent of the total Arab investments.
