ABU DHABI, Dr. Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Lebanon, today received Archbishop Elias Kfoury, Archbishop of Sidon, Sour, Marjayoun and Rashaya Al Wadi, at the embassy's headquarters in Al Yarze.
The meeting discussed the UAE's efforts to spread the messages of peace between peoples and religions. It also praised the historic visit of Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, to Abu Dhabi, and its role in spreading messages of tolerance, religious coexistence and openness.
The "Declaration on Human Fraternity" was also discussed during the meeting, as well as its importance in promoting global values based on solidarity, fraternity and rapprochement.
"The UAE aims to implement the notions of the declaration, which is the reference for those seeking security and stability and for all believers in coexistence and the universality of the heavenly religions, which call for the good of mankind and humanity and the spread of justice, love and giving. There are serious and real efforts, which are in line with the Year of Tolerance, to eliminate hatred, because nations can only be built through openness and acceptance," Al Shamsi said.
