VIENNA,- The UAE delegation held a series of meetings on Thursday with delegates of other countries to present updates on the country's peaceful nuclear programme, at the 60th General Conference of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria.

UAE Permanent Representative to the IAEA Ambassador Hamad Ali Al Kaabi, who heads the delegation, met separately with delegates of the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority, Texas A&M University and International Institute of Nuclear Energy.

They discussed co-operation and spoke about the UAE's four nuclear reactors under construction in Barakah in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi, where the first reactor is due to come into operation next year.

Al Kaabi attended a scientific forum on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, held as part of the IAEA's conference which is being held from 26th to 30th September.

In addition, the UAE delegation met with the delegates of Asia and the Pacific Group at the IAEA.

The group's delegates hailed the UAE's commitment to technical co-operation with the IAEA and the exchange of relevant expertise with other states.

They also invited the UAE to participate in a conference on technical co-operation, to be held next year in Vienna, to present its successful experience in this sector
