ISTANBUL, 10th October, 2016 (WAM) — A UAE delegation is attending the 23d World Energy Congress (WEC 2016), currently underway in Istanbul.

The delegation is headed by Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy.

Dr. Matar Hamed Al Neyadi, the Energy Ministry’s Under-Secretary, represented the delegation at a session about energy in development, which was attended by five heads of state.

The energy minister will address the congress to invite the participants to the World Energy Conference, to be hosted in Abu Dhabi in 2019, Al Neyadi said.

The delegation will submit a number of working papers during WEC 2016, highlighting various topics such as financing renewable energy projects, the energy, water and food synergies and innovation in energy, he added.

Meanwhile, the UAE pavilion at the exhibition, held on the sidelines of the WEC 2016, received a number of visitors today, including Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Al Falih.

Alya Al Yassi, Director of the Government Communication Department at the Ministry, briefed the visitors on the UAE government’s plans to build smart cities and to provide a sustainable and healthy environment to the people.
