ABU DHABI, 15th November 2016 (WAM) – The UAE impressed at the Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi this evening as they managed a 2-0 comeback win over Iraq to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Striker Ahmed Khalil opened the scoring for the UAE in the 26th minute with a powerful volley, while veteran Ismail Matar sealed the win with an injury time goal, just before the final whistle.

Tonight’s win revives UAE’s bid to reach the World Cup for the second time, as it comes after two disappointing home and away losses to Group B rivals Australia and Saudi Arabia, respectively.
