ABU DHABI, 4th December, 2016 (WAM)-- UAE embassies and diplomatic missions throughout the world celebrated the 45th UAE National Day, which falls on 2nd December, by hosting receptions and other events to highlight the progress achieved by the country during the past 45 years of the federation.
In Amman, Ambassador of the UAE to Jordan Bilal Rabea Al Bodour hosted a reception that was attended by Jordanian ministers, members of the parliament, tribal dignitaries, civilian and military officials, representatives of international and civil society organisations, and heads of foreign diplomatic missions.
In a newly-issued magazine, the Embassy showcased 45 years of achievements in the UAE, as well as the unique Emirati-Jordanian relations.
At the reception, a number of Emiratis read aloud poems praising the UAE and its leaders, and conducted traditional performances.
In Sri Lanka, the UAE Embassy's reception was attended by Sri Lankan ministers, parliamentarians, notable figures, business leaders and diplomats. Guests were welcomed by Ambassador Abdulhameed Kazim.
Sri Lankan Minister of Urban Planning and Water Supply Rauf Hakeem, who represented the government, delivered a speech in which he conveyed greetings from the President, Maithripala Sirisena, to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the people of the UAE. He also wished for further progress and prosperity for the UAE and Emirati people, and hailed the unique and growing political, economic and trade relations between the two countries.
In Kathmandu, Nepal, a reception hosted by Ambassador of the UAE Saeed Hamdan Al Naqbi was attended by Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, senior officials and foreign diplomats. Pun wished continued good health for the UAE President and for further progress for his people and government.
A movie was screened to showcase the UAE's achievements in the past four and a half decades.
In Austria, the reception hosted by Hamad Ali Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, was attended by the IAEA Director -General Yukiya Amano, ambassadors and senior Austrian officials.
In Portugal, the reception hosted by Emirati Charge d'Affaires Saleh Al Dheeb Al Hemairi in Lisbon was attended by senior Portuguese officials and foreign diplomats.
In a speech, he shed light on 45 years of continuous progress in the UAE, its unique international relations, based on the vision of the Emirati leadership for peace and moderation, as well as the UAE's growing relations with the European country.
In Belgrade, Serbia, Acting Charge d'Affaires at the UAE Embassy Ibrahim Ali Al Darmaki welcomed senior officials, including Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojsa Stefanovic, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic, Minister of Trade, Telecommunications and Tourism Rasim Ljajic, Bratislav Gasic, senior officials, foreign diplomats and notable Serbian figures.
In the reception hosted by the UAE Embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus, the Cypriot government was represented by the country's foreign minister, who conveyed greetings to the UAE on the national occasion and hailed the unique relations between the two countries. Heads of Cypriot parties, business leaders and foreign diplomats were in attendance.
In Ireland, UAE Ambassador to Dublin Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Shamsi welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Frances Fitzgerald, ministers, senior officials, MPs, as well as academicians and businesspeople. In a speech, Al Shamsi hailed the strong relations between the UAE and Ireland and thanked Irish officials for facilitating the development of these relations.
In Athens, Greece, senior officials and foreign diplomats joined Emiratis at a reception to celebrate the UAE National Day.
In Armenia, UAE Ambassador Dr. Jassem Mohammed Al Qasimi welcomed Armenian Foreign Minister Foreign Affairs Eduard Nalbandian, who represented the Armenian President, officials and business leaders, as well as the Head of the Armenia-UAE Friendship Group Ruzanna Muradyan.
The ambassador hailed relations with Armenia, while the Armenian foreign minister stressed that his government takes a keen interest in promoting these relations in all spheres.
In Conakry, Guinea, the spokesperson for the Guinean government, Damatin Albert Kamara, joined foreign diplomats and representatives of international organisations at the UAE Embassy's reception.
In Islamabad, Pakistan, Minister of Finance and Revenue Mohammad Ishaq Dar was the guest of honour at the UAE Embassy's National Day reception joining other senior Pakistani officials, MPs, leaders of political parties, foreign diplomats, as well as Emiratis and representatives of UAE companies.
In a speech, Ambassador Eisa Abdullah Al Nuaimi highlighted that relations with Pakistan are based on the principles of co-operation and mutual respect.
In Karachi, Pakistan, the reception hosted by UAE Consul-General Naser bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi was attended by Chief Minister of Sindh Province Syed Murad Ali Shah and Mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar, who were joined by a number of provincial ministers, military and civilians officials, as well as foreign diplomats and members of the academic and business communities.
In the Turkish capital Ankara, UAE Ambassador Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar hosted a large reception at which Turkish Minister of National Education Ismet Yilmaz represented his government and was joined by senior Turkish officials, heads of missions of Arab and Islamic countries and other foreign diplomats, business leaders, journalists, academicians and Emirati students.
In Nairobi, Kenya, UAE Ambassador Abdulrazzak Mohammed Hadi welcomed Aden Bare Duale, the Majority leader at the National Assembly of Kenya, and the representative of the government, and noted that relations with the African country are progressing steadily in the area of development, in particular.
Duale, for his part, thanked the UAE for supporting Kenya and said that the Kenyan president is interested in promoting the existing strategic relations between the two countries.
With the Members of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who are on a visit to Kenya, heads of foreign missions, MPs and businessmen joined the celebration.
The ambassador, Hadi, highlighted that the UAE government takes a keen interest in promoting relations with Kenya in development projects, in particular.
In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Minister of Health Dr. S. Subramaniam, who also leads the Malaysian Indian Congress, Prince Sulaiman Shah Ibni Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, who chairs the UAE Malaysia Business Council, and senior officials joined Arab ambassadors and Emirati students at the reception hosted by the UAE Embassy to mark the National Day.
In the subcontinent, UAE Consul-General in Mumbai Mohammed Saleh Al Tenaiji welcomed senior Indian officials, MPs, businesspeople and foreign consuls to a reception in which a laser show highlighted UAE landmarks and iconic achievements.
In Seychelles, UAE Ambassador Ahmed Saeed Al Neyadi hosted a reception where the country's Vice President, Vincent Meriton, led a large government delegation joining local figures and foreign diplomats to share with Emiratis at the National Day celebration.
Back in Africa, UAE Ambassador to Mozambique Asem Merza Al Rahma hosted a reception in Maputo that was attended by Mozambican Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources Carlos Bonete Martinho, government officials, foreign diplomats and local figures.
The ambassador delivered a speech to showcase the progress of relations with the African country.
