DUBAI, The UAE Food Bank is continuing its activities during the Holy Month of Ramadan 2019 by distributing over 120,000 Iftar meals, with the participation of many sponsors and supporters.
Dawoud Al Hajri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Food Bank and Director-General of the Dubai Municipality, said that the country's leadership believes in the importance of promoting the values of giving and goodness, through organising various initiatives and activities, adding that the bank represents the traditional values of the entire Emirati community.
"The public is positively responding to the bank's activities and events, especially during Ramadan, which is the month of giving and blessings. The bank delivers food to the needy around the country, which makes them happy," Al Hajri further added.
Al Hajri also pointed out that the bank recently launched five offices, with three in Dubai, one in Ras Al Khaimah and one in Ajman, and is organising a campaign to encourage people to donate food in major supermarkets, such as Lulu, Choithrams and Etihad, in cooperation with Lacnor and Oasis, which will run in 12 locations during weekends from 13:00 to 22:00 throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.
A successful Ramadan partnership between the UAE Food Bank and Careem was launched last year, which encouraged the public to donate food while using Careem's services. This year's donation service runs from 11:00 to 17:00.
The bank also set up 80 refrigerators across Dubai, which can be used to store food donated by the public during the Holy Month of Ramadan and throughout the year.
