ABU DHABI, -- The UAE has been founded on the deeply grounded principles based on mutual respect and co-operation, and values of tolerance and co-existence, said Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, FNC, in a statement on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, observed on 16th November.
''The UAE community is well characterised by its authentic legacy in tolerance, cultural diversity, openness and co-existence. These values were planted by the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and cherished by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces,'' Al Qubaisi said.
''The UAE has established itself as a role model for tolerance and co-existence. This model has won praise from nations of the world. The country hosts more than 200 nationalities of diverse religions, languages and cultural and ethnic backgrounds who are living and working in complete harmony and practising their religious rituals freely, with no distinction as to religion, race or colour,'' she added.
The FNC Speaker called for arming the young generation with values of tolerance and co-existence in order to lead a good life.
