GENEVA, 28th September 2016 (WAM) The United Arab Emirates has provided US$ 175.6 million in humanitarian aid to Libya since the onset of the crisis there in 2011, Rima Ibrahim Al Manai, a member of the UAE’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva said today.

Addressing the Human Rights Council’s Interactive Dialogue with the UN Special Representative in Libya, on the Situation of Human Rights in Libya, Al Manai said the UAE welcomes the consensus reached by different parties in Libya to form the National Accord Government and expressed the hope that cooperation between the legitimate Libyan Presidential Council and the House of Representatives, will lead to national unity there.

The UAE also expressed relief over the achievements made by Libya in human rights fields, despite the challenges faced there.
