AJMAN, Sheikha Fatima bint Zayed bin Saqr Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Science in Ajman, stated that the UAE is witnessing an exceptional cultural movement that has enabled it to form a unique scientific and cultural personality and become a pioneer of science, which is reflected by the launch the first satellite that was fully designed by Emiratis.
Sheikha Fatima bint Zayed, who is the wife of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, pointed out that the main motivation for these achievements is the will of the wise leadership, which made science, education and culture the paths to exceptionalism.
"The most important vessels of science and culture are the scientific and cultural awards of the country, including the Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Science in Ajman, whose 35-year anniversary we are celebrating this year. The award has stimulated the cultural and scientific movements of the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, countries," she said.
Sheikha Fatima bint Zayed congratulated the winners of the 38th edition of the award in 2017, who number 38 out of 243 participants from universities and scientific institutions in GCC countries while valuing the role of the award's board of trustees and judging panels.
The award's board of trustees held a meeting at the Umm Al Mumineen Association, which was headed by Dr. Saeed Abdullah Hareb Al Muhairi, Deputy Chairperson of the Board, to approve the names of the winners.
Dr. Hareb stated that the award's witnessed considerable demand in terms of the number of participants and quality of participating research, which includes studies on health, medicine, nutrition, environmental science, information technology, law, economics and literature. He added that the 243-participating works were evaluated by 122 judges, who are academics, critics, writers and researchers in science and culture.
