ABU DHABI, 15th October 2016 (WAM) – The growing strategic relations between the the UAE and Italy, along with strengthening ties between both countries’ parliaments, were discussed when Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), met in Rome today with Marina Sereni, Deputy President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies.

Also discussed was the finalizing of a Memorandum of Cooperation to create the UAE-Italian Parliamentary Friendship Committee (UIPFC).

The meeting was attended by members of the delegation accompanying the FNC Speaker, including Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Za’abi, Second Deputy Speaker of the FNC, and other members. Saqr Nasser Al Raisi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Italy, was also in attendance.

Afterwards, the UIPFC held its first meeting in Rome, which was co-chaired by Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Za’abi, Second Deputy Speaker of the FNC, and Sarah Moretti, Member of the Italian Parliament.

The two sides emphasised the important role the committee will play in expanding relations between both parliaments, along with sharing expertise and best practices.
