CAIRO, 22nd May, 2016 (WAM) — The UAE participated in the 87th regular session of the Permanent Committee of the Arab Media which started here today at the Headquarters of the Secretariat General of the Arab League to prepare for the meetings of the 47th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers on Wednesday.
Ibrahim Al Abed, Adviser to the National Media Council, NMC, represented the UAE in the meeting.
The Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information for External Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdul Mohsen bin Farouk Elias, who is also chairman of the Standing Committee of the Arab media, chaired the session.
In his keynote speech, Elias stressed the importance of the current session, being held under critical regional and international conditions to unify the Arab countries’ efforts to meet aspirations of the peoples of the region to face challenges.
He said the current session will discuss 15 topics on the agenda, notably the issues related to the Arab media, the new plan of Arab action, media strategy, means of implementing the resolutions of the Arab League Council at the summit and ministerial levels, developments related to the Palestinian issue and the role of Arab media in tackling terrorism.
