TBILISI, 25th May, 2016 (WAM) — A UAE delegation headed by Faris Al Mazrouei, Assistant Foreign and International Cooperation Minister for Security and Military Affairs, has participated in the tenth annual Georgia Defence and Security Conference, which opened yesterday in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi. The delegations attendance at the event is a response to a joint visit from Tinatin Khidasheli, Minister of Defence of Georgia, and Damon Wilson, Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Council. The event also coincides with the 25th Independence Day of Georgia.
The UAE delegation included Ambassador Saeed Obaid Al Kaabi, Head of the UAE Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, NATO, in Brussels and high-level officials from the Ministry of Defence.
In his speech during the conference, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, highlighted contemporary global security challenges and threats and their impact on small states, as well as the prospects of non-conventional wars.
The event was attended by foreign ministers of NATO member states and by Dr. Jassem Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Ambassador to Armenia and Non-resident Ambassador to Georgia.
