ABU DHABI, -- Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, FNC, stressed that the UAE's ranking world's No. one in the Official development assistance (ODA) in ratio to Gross National Income (GNI) reflects the country's commitment to its global humanitarian message and principles.
She added that these principals, deemed an inspiring model globally in the field of making humanity happy, coincides with the Year of Giving Initiative and the country's objectives to reach out to those in need everywhere around the world.
On the occasion of the UAE ranking as the world's largest donor of humanitarian aid in 2016, Dr. Al Qubaisi said, "The figures, announced by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) Development Assistance Committee (DAC), reflect the attention given by the wise leadership to people everywhere regardless of their race or religion, which is based on the cultural and moral legacy instilled by the forefathers to provide assistance for those who are in need."
She also noted that the human values, on which the country was established and instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, are deemed an Emirati humanitarian culture.
FNC Speaker said the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to promote the culture of giving has made the country a role model in the humanitarian assistance field, away from politics, race or religion.
FNC Speaker added that the achievement reflects the UAE citizens' passion for giving which represents a main component of the country's identity and humanitarian personality.
She also noted that the UAE represents a role model in the humanitarian aid field in order to achieve development, stability and peace globally.
