ABU DHABI -- Bilateral relations between the UAE and Saudi Arabia are unique and reflect the deep vision of their leaders as well as their understanding about regional and international issues, Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, said on Wednesday.

"The UAE and Saudi Arabia present an ideal example of how relations between Arab states, including between Gulf Arab states, should be. Through their policies, they seek to preserve the unity of Arab positions. This is an old dream that was cherished by the first generation of their leaders and today is being realised under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia," Al Qubaisi said in a cable to Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammad Al Al-Sheikh, Speaker of Saudi Arabia's Shura Council, greeting him on the occasion of the 86th Saudi National Day.

She cited the establishment of the joint UAE-Saudi co-ordination council earlier this year as one of the fruits of prosperous relations between the two countries and agreement between their leaders about the importance of backing the legitimate government in Yemen.

The policies pursued by Saudi Arabia in the past eight decades have reflected positively on all Arab and Muslim states, including Gulf Arab states, Al Qubaisi further noted.

The fact that the UAE and Saudi Arabia belong to the Cooperation Council for the Gulf Arab States (GCC) adds special value to the council and their co-ordination council gives a new boost to the regional bloc to make further progress and prosperity and enable both countries to defend the gains of the Arab peoples and the security and stability of their states against foreign interventions and drive the region to further development, Al Qubaisi said.

"Saudi Arabia will remain the leader of Arabs and Muslims and the fort that thwarts all evil-intentioned plots. The UAE, led by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed will always back the kingdom in all efforts to strengthen the GCC, Arab Nation and the Muslim World," she added.
