DUBAI, 10th October, 2016 (WAM) — The directives from the leadership of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) calls for focussing on youth projects in developing countries that would help them build their capacities, an official has said.

These directives recognise the importance of youth as the main drivers of development in their communities, said Khalid Isa Al Midfa, Assistant Secretary-General of the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare.

The official made the remarks as a head of the UAE delegation during the 3rd OIC Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers, which concluded in Turkey on Sunday.

The UAE’s support of the youth projects is part of the foreign development aid programmes to support the aspirations of developing countries worldwide, he noted.

Al Midfa referred to the importance of participation in sports programmes of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, which aims at encouraging Muslim youth and promoting competition.

He stressed the importance of active participation of member states in the programmes and activities of the federation and the fourth session of the Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in May 2017.
