DUBAI -- Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received religious scholars and preachers, who were invited to the UAE by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and jury members of the 21st Dubai International Holy Quran Award, on Friday at Zabeel Place.
Sheikh Mohammed and the guests exchanged greetings for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
He wished them success in conveying the true message of Islam, away from extremist fallacies.
He urged the scholars to always emphasise, at all occasions anywhere, that Islam upholds justice, transparency and tolerance, because it is a religion and a message for all mankind.
Sheikh Mohammed and the scholars later performed the Maghreb (sunset) prayer. He also hosted an iftar banquet for the guests.
Those who attended the meeting, prayer and iftar included H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation; Dr. Mohammad Mattar Al Kaabi, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments; Dr. Hamad Al Shaibani, Director-General of Dubai's Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities; and other officials.
