NEW YORK, 25th October, 2015 (WAM) — Members of the UN Security Council have welcomed the announcement made by the UN and the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad, on the upcoming talks on Yemen.

According to the Yemeni News Agency, the members issued a press statement in which they commended the decision by the Government of Yemen to participate in peace talks along with other parties.

The council strongly condemned all violence, attempts or threats to use violence to intimidate those participating in UN-brokered consultations and emphasised that such action is unacceptable.

In their statement, the members of the council voiced concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen, including the food insecurity already facing millions of Yemenis across the country and the increasing risk of famine.
