NEW YORK, 5th January, 2016 (WAM) — The UN Security Council has strongly condemned the attacks on the diplomatic missions of Saudi Arabia in Tehran and its Consulate in Mashhad.

In a statement last night, the council expressed its deep concern over the attacks, demanding that Iran protect diplomatic and consular facilities and their personnel with the full respect of international obligations in this regard.

The statement, which was issued unanimously by its 15 members, pointed out that the Vienna Conventions oblige all states to protect their diplomatic missions.
