UNICEF provides assistance to 700 displaced students in Baquba

BAGHDAD, 31st December, 2015 (WAM) -- The United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, has provided assistance to around 700 displaced students in schools of Baquba and its outskirts in northern Iraq.

The information officer of the Dialy Education Department, Sinan Al Rabee'i, said in a statement that UNESCO provided the assistance in the form of books, exercise books, bags, games and educational aids to teachers. It also provided assistance to four schools affected by acts of terrorism.

The office of the United Nations Development Programme and the German Development Bank last week signed an US$33 million to be provided by the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development in Germany to support stability restoration efforts in Iraqi areas recently liberated from Daesh, as well as support of education, health and the infrastructure in those areas.
