ABU DHABI, 4th December, 2016 (WAM)–Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, and Hakeem Bin Shammas, Head of the Moroccan Counselors’ Council accompanied by Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni, Member of the FNC and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of Morocco in Abu Dhabi, officially inaugurated Morocco in Abu Dhabi event on Sunday.

The event is welcomed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and supported by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the recognition of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Morocco in Abu Dhabi is being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, and is set to promote and support the historical and fraternal ties between the UAE and the Kingdom of Morocco across all fields. The event is open for public until the 11th of December, every day between 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm The opening ceremony was also attended by the esteemed members of the FNC, including Hamad Al Ghafli, Aysha Salem bin Samnouh, Jassim Abdullah Al Naqbi, and Muhammad Ayat Wa Ali, the Moroccan Ambassador to the UAE.

On this occasion, Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi highlighted the distinguished deep-rooted historical relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Morocco, led by the two leaders and strongly supported by the people. “This relation is carved with tolerance and love, a true reflection of the heritage and values of a rich heritage.”

“We are honoured to launch Morocco in Abu Dhabi in the Capital today, and we salute and thank His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and the people of Morocco. We take pride in what is being presented today; this event, from design to content, enabled us to witness the fascinating features of the Moroccan culture, and the preservation of the craftsmanship and art through generations. Such traditional event adds richness to our culture and makes us proud of the Islamic Arabic heritage and human values. We thank the organizers for the great efforts behind the organisation,” she said.

“We are bonded by historic relationships and deep-rooted ties between Morocco and the UAE; such events further underline the long journey of cultural exchange, building connections and great achievements. We see great innovation in the way the culture and heritage are artistically presented; such events reinforce our trust in the Arab citizens, and their capability to preserve their culture, heritage and craftsmanship in an era of globalisation and development. We congratulate the Kingdom of Morocco for this spectacular event,” she concluded.

Dr. Al Qubaisi toured Morocco in Abu Dhabi, the culturally and artistically filled event. The event features a gigantic handmade wooden gate, the carefully crafted flooring with two million pieces of mosaic and brightly painted walls. The pathways are complemented with elegant marble columns, glittering chandeliers dropping from a classical copper ceiling.

Morocco in Abu Dhabi participating artists performed traditional spiritual, cultural and urban music, and showcased some of the best art crafts and the spectacular caftan shows. The tour was concluded at the Moroccan Museum, enclosing precious Moroccan gems of fashion, instruments of war including weapons, swords, daggers, spears, and between tea tools.

Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni, Member of the FNC and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of Morocco in Abu Dhabi, thanked the leadership of the UAE for welcoming and hosting this remarkable event. He confirmed that Morocco in Abu Dhabi offers a great opportunity for the UAE’s citizens and residents to learn about the Moroccan legacy and to educate the future generations on the importance of preserving its heritage. “The event aims to instill the principles of tolerance and love which are the cornerstone of the values set by our parents, grandparents and ancestors.”

He underlined the continued cooperation and coordination for hosting additional joint events and initiatives that accentuate the cultural authenticity of both countries; “Morocco in Abu Dhabi is a testament to the robust and loyal ties between the UAE and the Kingdom of Morocco.”

The event is being held in parallel with the UAE’s 45th National Day celebrations, with the objective of reinforcing the ties between the UAE and Morocco, led by the leaders of both countries. Morocco in Abu Dhabi 2016 is an ideal platform to enhance economic, educational, tourism and cultural relationships, and to introduce the inherent Moroccan culture and heritage amongst the country’s communities.

This year’s edition will offer its visitors a great opportunity to explore Morocco’s rich culture and heritage. Morocco in Abu Dhabi is an ethnic journey that unveils the country’s eclectic traits, from architecture, to music, art, and cuisine, presented in a sensational and elegant layout that glees the senses of its visitors.

The 2016 edition is celebrating the best of Islamic architectural art that progressed in Morocco more than anywhere else in the Arab world. Morocco has maintained a rich and artistic heritage and maintained its position as the primary hub of Andalusia Architecture, one of the main components of Islamic art for more than six centuries.

The Moroccan music will entertain the visitors of Morocco in Abu Dhabi through traditional, spiritual, and tribal Moroccan rhythm under one roof. Kaleidoscope and Mosaic artistic material will be decorating the corridors of Morocco in Abu Dhabi; fashion enthusiasts will have the chance to view the traditional breath-taking artisans’ creations and attend unique pre-scheduled fashion shows. Gourmet connoisseurs will indulge in a refined blend of flavors and culinary conception presented by renowned Moroccan chefs.
