WASHINGTON, DC, 23rd January, 2017 (WAM) — The White House has confirmed that Donald Trump’s team is in what they called “the beginning stages” of discussing a plan to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Mr. Trump had said repeatedly during the election campaign that he intended to relocate the US embassy to Jerusalem, despite warnings that the move would violate international law and destroy the peace process.

According to news reports today, his press secretary, Sean Spicer, told reporters on Sunday, “We are at the very beginning stages of even discussing this subject.”

Meanwhile, Israel radio quoted an official from the White House as saying that talk of the transfer of the US Embassy in Israel to Occupied Jerusalem is in the very early stages, playing down the possibility of transferring the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem any time soon.
